Mushrooms are well-known for their numerous health benefits and contain many intriguing bioactive components that researchers find interesting. Therefore, it is essential to investigate how these components can be increased in mushrooms and explore how to enhance the biological efficiency of fungi. One of the key factors in developing these aspects is the role of substrates and cultivation conditions in cultivation.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the impact of new substrate ingredients on the cultivation of commercial Lion's Mane mushrooms (Hericium erinaceus) under optimal growth conditions. Lion's Mane is a fungal species known not only for its excellent taste but also for its potential health benefits, serving as a source of hericenone compounds and ergosterol.

Cultivation experiments were conducted for this thesis, and a cultivation space was constructed for this purpose. The cultivation space was based on a grow tent, isolating external factors. The humidity in the cultivation space was controlled with a humidity regulator, and temperature as well as carbon dioxide levels were closely monitored throughout the cultivation periods. The theoretical framework for the work was compiled from research studies, articles, personal experience, and internet sources. Information from the client was also utilized.

Various substrate ingredients were tested in addition to the client's conventional substrate. The selection of substrate ingredients was based on their interesting properties and characteristics.
