The purpose of this thesis was to find options how to reuse manure in urban equestrian areas. The main target of this report was the Virpiniemi equestrian area in Oulu, but the results can be utilized also for other urban equestrian areas.

Maps were created to illustrate how the nutrient potential of horse manure is divided in Northern Ostrobothnia. A steering group with experts was formed for the thesis. A future workshop was organized with HevosAgro II – project to discuss the re-usage of manure in the Virpiniemi equestrian area. The purpose of the workshop was to collect ideas about manure handling from the entrepreneurs and provide opportunities and advice for possible new companies. The results of this Thesis were presented in a manure handling seminar of HevosAgro II – project.

The results of the thesis include a survey of the current re-usage of manure in the Virpiniemi equestrian area. Furthermore the opinions of the area´s activators were collected. However, new entrepreneurs to work with manure re-usage were not found.
