Subject of the thesis was born in a school project in which we made a plant protection plan to a bedding plant cultivation. During this project we got interested in the subject and offered to do a comprehensive plant protection plan to the enterprise. Integrated plant protection will expand in Finland because of amendments to the law so we thought the subject was current. We gathered information from the enterprise’s plant protection in spring and summer of 2013 and also got orientated into current plant protection.

We wanted to renovate the plant protection used in the enterprise. Biological protection was introduced as a preventive protection method. In the plant protection plan chemical and biological protection methods were integrated. Also preventive cultivation methods were included in the thesis.

The most important sectors of plant protection in this protection plan are employers’ orientation to plant observation, usage of biological pest control and also underlining preventive cultivation methods. To help plant observation and protection this thesis includes observation and plant protection tables. Also bookkeeping diary required by law is included. This protection plan can be used also in other bedding plant cultivations but all of the methods used have to be tailored in every enterprise.
