A company called Belle Games wanted a person in their project, who would write fitting and enjoyable content for their game, which was to be released in Facebook. The original purpose was to write content into the game that would please the potential players. The game was supposed to include random events and news that the players could follow, with also missions to complete, both solo and in groups. In addition to the events and missions, the game would eventually include both dialogue and other text.

After the supervising teacher gave their idea, the goal was to create proper content by applying persuasive technology and research how other Facebook -games used persuasion. The knowledge basis included mostly works on persuasive technology, guides on the psychology of persuasion and texts on videogame design. During the thesis, several games that resembled the Year of Eden, that were already in the Facebook were researched and the persuasive techniques they used were recorded.

The result was a research on the types techniques that Facebook -games use to get the players to play the games. The researched techniques were also applied in the content design of Year of Eden and in the developement of some of it's minor features. The research also revealed the most common methods of earning money, which can be used when planning those methods for Year of Eden.

The commissioner may use the results of the work when designing the game and use the effective persuasive techniques when attracting players. The features of the game can also be designed by applying the features from other games, that have been found effective.
