The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to design and to execute a modern customer-oriented multimedia presentation for Raahe District Business Services’ website. The subject of this thesis was suggested by the employer during my practical training in the spring of 2010.

The purpose was to update the website of the Raahe District Business Services with the help of the presentation so that they would be more interesting and at the same time to tell about current and useful services in the region as well as provide information to new and old entrepreneurs and companies. It was decided to utilize Raahe’s reputation as an old sea town with sailing ships in the narration of the presentation. Based on the reputation, a so-called nautical chart idea was born.

Material for the multimedia presentation was copied from old maps of the coast of Raahe. They also required close examination of copyrights. These materials for the presentation were produced with the help of Photoshop and FreeHand 10. The multimedia presentation was built using Flash and the web templates using Dreamweaver.

A significant part of the thesis was the easy update of the information text windows in the Flash presentation, because Raahe District Business Services does not necessarily always have an information technology expert to update the texts and therefore anyone in the office must be able to update them when needed. A small manual containing the instructions for the updating of the windows will be made for Raahe District Business Services.

The service questions used in the presentation and the answers given to them in the info windows will give the customers the information they need briefly but accurately as well as information on the person who can serve them best, making it unnecessary to browse through the whole site.
