The aim of this thesis was to consider how to use a postcard as a tool and marketing material in a graphic designer’s work. The subject was current when I started to think how to use the postcard series that I made as practical part of the thesis.

I used mostly English literature, internet sources and a survey I made for freelance graphic designers, as data for the thesis. I go through history and different forms of a postcard and a business card. I also analyze the answers of the survey and the make a summary of the opportunities how you can use a postcard as a part of graphic designer’s work.

Thesis changed a bit during the process. I started with the idea of making a brand new product by combining a business card and a postcard. When gathering data my perspective changed and I started to examine the features of the cards.
