The aim of this thesis was to design and implement a website for events in Oulu area. This report discusses website designing, the methods used in the implementation, and collecting data automatically from RSS feeds. This thesis didn’t have a client. The aim was to make the website easy to use to enable automatic maintenance, so it could be deployed by the authors.

More specifically this report describes implementation steps and the techniques used in this functional thesis. All the critical functions were implemented in the website. The graphic design for the website was carried out as a separate project.

As a result a website for events in Oulu area was published at oulusa.fi. In the future the intention is to further develop the website by creating additional features and expanding the event database.
